3 Reasons To Add a Resources Page to Your Blog

How To Let People Know What Tools You UseMy Resources Page

The idea of creating a Resources Page and this particular blog post was actually inspired by me hunting down a resources page on a fellow blogger’s website.

I wanted to make a purchase and do it through their affiliate link so that they could earn a commission.

It took me ages to find the appropriate link because I had to trawl through past blog posts until finally – Eureka! I found it. I was able to make my purchase and provide a nice recurring commission for someone who truly deserved it.

There are several reasons why you should have a Resources Page on your blog. Here are 3 that are important to me.

1) I Like To Buy a Recommended and Well Liked ProductI Recommend This Product
When I am looking to buy something, be it online or offline, I want to know what other people think about the product. Depending on what the item is, I like to ask people for their opinon.

For example if I were interested in a new film or a book, I would ask friends if they have seen or read it. I would go to Google and look for reviews about that film or book. I would then be able to make an informed decision as to whether to give it a go or not.

This is the same thing I like to do when I am purchasing online products. I like to check out what other bloggers are using. If I can’t identify the product by simply looking at the website, I then go look for their resources page. If the product is listed there, then I feel that this is a good sign and I am happy to go buy.

Don’t get me wrong. I still weigh up the options about whether a particular online product will be beneficial for my needs but that extra recommendation certainly helps.

2) I Like to Give a Commission as a Thank You For Providing Valuable InfoThank you for the recommendation
If someone has taken the time to do a thorough review of a product, then I like the idea of being able to reward that blogger.

Affiliate commissions do not affect the price that I pay for something so it is a great way to say thank you. That person may or may not know that you have purchased through their link but you will and you can pat yourself on the back for providing a little something.

3) I Like to be Pointed in the Right DirectionWhich way
When you have decided that you would like to buy a product, you may find that there are a whole slew of options available. It is always helpful if you can find some information that helps to narrow down those options for you.

Again, checking out the Resources Page of your favourite blogger could be a quick way to cut through those choices. The idea is that if a certain product is good enough for them to use, then I am happy to go along with their judgement and take a look for myself.

How many times have you heard of people buying something without doing their own research, just because they have total faith in the person who has recommended it to them? This is because they have come to know that person and can therefore rely on their judgement.

Even if you then realise that a product is not for you, you know that it wasn’t greed that propelled that blogger to suggest you make that purchase so you are not left feeling cheated or exploited.

I am sure there are many more reasons for you to set up a Resources Page on your website but these are the things that I consider important to me.
