I am doing a little experiment to see if I can make more money with my Kindle books.
I have written and published quite a few things, which are available to purchase on Amazon.
I know that promotional work would help these books to sell a little better but I find the process can be long winded and maybe a little bit boring?
Time To Get Things Done
This month, however, I need to take action. I want to see if I can improve on last month’s earnings by putting a little more effort into the process instead of just hoping that people will happen upon my book listings somewhere, somehow.
I have decided to create a Kindle Book Countdown deal for one of my books.
Promotion No.1 – My Kindle Book Countdown Deal
The book I have chosen is Diary of a Summer Camp Counsellor – Working at an American Summer Camp.
This book is currently enrolled in the Amazon Kindle Direct Promotion programme. This means that I am able to choose to offer this book as a freebie for 5 days or use the discount promo method. I have already done the freebie thing so thought I would give the second option a try.
How This Works
Because the original price is $2.99 – I am able to promote this with two different price increments.
The sale price will start at $0.99 then go to $1.99 and then return to its original price of $2.99.
The sales promotion will run for 7 days and will start on Tuesday 13th – Sunday 19th May. Let’s see how it goes.
This offer is only available in America. Due to price conversions, my book on Amazon.co.uk didn’t qualify for this promotion. I changed the price but the rules state that a book has to be at a particular price for a certain amount of time before you can use the Kindle Countdown Promo. So now I have to wait until June to do a UK Promo. Sigh. Sorry UK buyers.
I will be promoting this book using the methods that I wrote about in a previous blog post – 5 Ways To Promote Your Kindle Book – The Lazy Girl Way
Summer Camp Jobs in America was one of the very first things I published on Amazon. It is a short little thing but it was a great way to practice how to format and upload content to the Amazon site.
Look at that sad little cover! I wanted to get a new, more professional looking cover but I didn’t have the time.
I will offer this bookette on a 5 day free promotional offer from Monday 12th until Friday 16th May . This should increase the amount of downloads and hopefully get the title up into the “Other books people have purchased” list. This can really help to increase sales after the promotional offer has ended.
I Will Compare & Contrast The Different Promotions
It will be good to be able to compare and contrast these two campaigns to see which one fares better. I will report back on my results in a later post and then make a comparison with the sales from the previous month.
Wish me luck
