I am not a big fan of all things mystical or using breathing techniques to find the meaning of life but I am a sucker for self help books. When I went on holiday, I picked up this book called I See Your Dream Job by Sue Frederick. The reason that this book interested me at the time is because I have gone through a series of jobs and careers that have been OK but I didn’t feel 100% content.

Well, after completing this book, it felt like I had a revelation. Basically it explains the type of personality you have and the sort of careers best suited to you based on the numerology of your date of birth, star sign and what part of the career cycle you happen to on at this precise moment in time.

There is a section in the book that gives your reasons why you are not happy in your career and what your true destiny is and how to discover it.

After following the instructions and doing the homework suggested in the book I discovered the following things:

What my Birth Path is

Where I am on my own life cycle

What my talents are according to my Birth Path

What my dream career consists of

What action to take next

My Birth Path has been identified as being a 4 and/or 22. According to the book, I have the following strength;

Practicality, self discipline, strength and determination, effective at developing efficient systems and the skills and willingness to help and inspire others.

My weaknesses include getting lost in the details, which is sooo true.

The book breaks down your life cycle as a continuous loop that begins every nine years. Each year different aspects of your life are affected or influenced which also spills over into your private life and your career. I am currently in the 8th year of the life cycle, which states that this is the time to take action and start promoting whatever it is that you are working on. This resonates with me because I started my PLR business, a website selling articles written by me. This has been fun but a little scary and so far all is going well.

My Birth Path talents include the ability to organise, work hard, focus, overcome through determination and help to bring inspired new thinking to everyday challenges.

According to the book, my dream career includes the need to build things from scratch and to teach new ways of living.

The book also includes real life case studies about people who were struggling to find their true destiny and their true career paths. It is also to read about how others have been able to transform their lives.

The book contains lots of exercises for you to go through in order to help you focus and really understand what makes you happy. It helps to guide you towards your true purpose.

I really enjoyed this book because it helped me to reaffirm a few things I already knew about myself and it also helped motivate me to get on and live the life that I really want.

If you are thinking about whether to buy I See Your Dream Job by Sue Frederick, I would recommend this book 100% for anyone who feels that they are at a crossroad in their lives. There are some parts of the book that didn’t interest me, what I would call naval gazing, but there was still enough in there to make it a worthwhile read. As long as you take some action after reading it, then this book has done its job.

This is a delightful little book about a group of childhood friends who grow up and start a business together that is all about planning weddings and making people’s dreams come true.

The main storyline is about a character called MacKenzie who finds it hard to let go and to let a man get close to her at all.

I really enjoyed reading Vision in White. It is a really good feel good story. I have read other books by Nora Roberts and so I am pleased that I liked this just as much as her others. It is nice to disappear into a fairytale world of love and life etc.

Malory Towers by Enid Blyton

There is a little bookshop that I walk past every day on my way to work. It is the sort of shop that sells books that have all been marked for clearance. This makes the majority of stock more than 50% cheaper than in your average bookshop.

Anyway I was very happy to see a set of books that brought me back to my childhood. It was a series of books written by Enid Blyton and they were about a fictional boarding school called Malory Towers.

There are five books in the set which correspond to each school year. The stories follow the activities and adventures that a young girl called Darrell Rivers has with her school friends.

I absolutely adored the description of what it must be like to go to a boarding school and all the fun and excitement that it entailed.

The second time round I am very much aware of how quaint everything is and how terribly British and somewhat dated the language is. It is certainly no Harry Potter, Hogwarts school or my current favorite, The Twilight collection.

Sometimes it is nice to go back to the past in order to reflect on how much you have changed and how things have changed. Enid Blyton is still a very popular author among young children and because these books are only about 150 pages each, they are quite quick to read. They are fun, frivolous and full of innocence describing life in a time gone by. This is just what is needed on my daily commute to and from work on the train.

I am just in the process of reading the Twilight Book Collection and I am loving it. My sister introduced me to the first book Twilight and I have become a true convert to all things vampire.

The main premise of the story is that a young girl called Bella Swan meets a young man called Edward Cullen at high school. We learn quickly that he is a vampire and was actually born in 1901.

Once Bella discovers this, she is not your typical teenage girl who would normally run a mile from monsters. She falls even more in love with him.

This is a beautifully written book about an enduring love. It makes me wish that I had someone like Edward in my life who is unashamedly and passionately in love with me (but I suppose I could do without the threat of death from a vampire bite hanging over my head each time I went in for a kiss.)

Twilight has now been made into a movie and I loved watching the DVD as much as I enjoyed reading the book. The script writer and the director did an excellent job of bringing the words on the page to life.

There are four books in the Twilight book collection and they are all being made into films. I have read New Moon, the next installment and I eagerly anticipate the release of the New Moon DVD here.

The other books in the collection are:

New Moon

Eclispe

Breaking Dawn
