Twilight Collection Of Books By Stephenie Meyer

Twilight by Stephenie Meyers

I am just in the process of reading the Twilight Book Collection and I am loving it.  My sister introduced me to the first book Twilight and I have become a true convert to all things vampire.

The main premise of the story is that a young girl called Bella Swan meets a young man called Edward Cullen at high school.  We learn quickly that he is a vampire and was actually born in 1901.

Once Bella discovers this, she is not your typical teenage girl who would normally run a mile from monsters. She falls even more in love with him.

This is a beautifully written book about an enduring love.  It makes me wish that I had someone like Edward in my life who is unashamedly and passionately in love with me (but I suppose I could do without the threat of death from a vampire bite hanging over my head each time I went in for a kiss.)

Twilight has now been made into a movie and I loved watching the DVD as much as I enjoyed reading the book. The script writer and the director did an excellent job of bringing the words on the page to life.

There are four books in the Twilight book collection and they are all being made into films.  I have read New Moon, the next installment and I eagerly anticipate the release of the New Moon DVD here.

The other books in the collection are:

  • New Moon
  • Eclispe
  • Breaking Dawn

Oscar Nominated Films For 2010

So now I have a list of the films nominated for the best film Oscar award for 2010.

I will try to see if I can get to see them all this year. I had this same task on my to do list for last year but I didn’t really have that much luck.  This time I will try a little bit harder to actually get my butt in gear and just go.  It is not like it is a hardship to actually go to the cinema or anything and with the Orange Wednesday free cinema ticket deal, it works out to be quite cheap.

The Films Nominated For An Oscar 2010:

  • Avatar
  • District 9
  • An Education
  • The Hurt Locker
  • Inglorious Basterds
  • Precious
  • A Serious Man
  • Up in The Air
  • The Blind Side
  • Up
The director and some of the cast of the movie Precious

I am happy to report that I can already tick one film off the list. I recently went to see Precious.  I was expecting to see a really harrowing tale, which it was in parts.  However I am glad to say that I left the cinema with a feeling of optimism as the main character shows that even after all the adversity that she goes through, she can still find something to keep her going.

This is truly inspirational and something that everyone should see in order to keep their own trials and tribulations into perspective.

Clicking Her Heels & More..

This is a quick post as I haven’t written anything for a while.  Just wanted to make a note of the books that I have read over the last few weeks.

Clicking Her Heels by Lucy Hepburn – this book was a nice little story. I picked it up because it was about shoes and this girl loves her shoes.  However the story did expand further than this and ended up being frivolous and fun. A nice quick and easy read.

The Camomile Lawn by Mary Wesley – this is an OK book.  It is terribly English and quaint in its settings and there were a few unexpected sex scenes.

Season of Innocents by Carolyn Haines – this was a strange book set in the Deep South.  It felt like the writer had started with a really good idea but then got a little bored half way through and just managed to squeeze the ending out.
