One of the things on my Lazy Girl’s Makeover is to get into shape and lose weight. Now I really hate to exercise but I know that it is essential if I want to burn off those calories.
The most important thing is to find something that will not only get you moving but is also something that you will continue to do. I love to dance so I just had to find dance based exercises and this is exactly what I found when I went to a Zumba dance class.
What Is Zumba Dancing?
Zumba is a Latin inspired dance fitness programme. It was created by Alberto “Beto” Perez and was a real sensation in America. Now it has finally reached these shores and has slowly started to gain popularity.
The reason why people are going Zumba crazy is because literally anyone can do it. The atmosphere that is created is that of a dance club instead of a boring exercise class. This means that the routines are taught while the music is blaring out and it doesn’t matter if you go wrong. As long as you do it all with a smile and you are having fun that everything is fine.
I certainly worked up a sweat. I am not sure how much but I know that I burned off lots of calories and I had a lot of fun.
It was actually my mother who introduced me to this particular dance class. She found out that free dance sessions were being offered by the NHS in order to encourage the nation to exercise. I couldn’t believe that these classes were being offered for free. I thought maybe it was just reserved for senior citizens, but no; this offer is open to all women.
So I am now enjoying free Zumba dance classes with my mother which is fantastic. I look forward to my next dance session. If you can’t find a class in your area, you can buy one of the many DVDs and exercise in the comfort of your own home.
