Weight Loss The Realistic Way

So it is almost the beginning of a new year and I will be back on my mission to lose weight.  I have made sure that I have enjoyed and indulged during the holiday season because, well, it just wouldn’t have been Christmas without the gorgeous cakes, biscuits, chocolates, mince pies, crisps, roast chicken, roast potatoes – oooh I could go on and on.

Suffice to say, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and am ready to get back on track.  I have done a little research so I know what I need to do to successfully reach my weight loss goals.

I have checked out my BMR.  This measures how much calories it takes for the body to run.   If you are interested you can check out your own BMR.

According to my current weight and height, my body needs around 1386 calories per day to function.  This number increases the more active you are.

Looking at official data, it seems the daily caloric intake for the average person to maintain their weight is 2000 calories and the recommended daily caloric intake for a person looking to lose weight is 1500 calories.  So I will work with these figures and aim to reduce my calorific intake and do some exercise in order to create a deficit of 500 calories per day.  I should be able to lose around 1 – 1.5lbs per week .
